1 tbsp butter
675 g waxy potatoes, sliced
2 garlic cloves
1 red onion sliced
85 g gruyere cheese, grated
300 ml double cream
Salt and pepper
Lightly grease a 1-litre shallow oven proof dish with the butter. Arrange a single layer of potato slices evenly in the base of the prepared dish. top the potato slices with half the garlic, half the sliced red onion and one third of the grated gruyere cheese. Season to taste with a little salt and some pepper.
Repeat the layers in exactly the same order, finishing with a layer of potatoes topped with grated cheese.
Cook in a preheated oven 180 C / gas mark 4, for 1 ½ hours or until the potatoes are cooked through and the top is browned and crispy. Serve immediately straight from the dish.
This is a really yummy dish.
